BLS Instructor Course - RENEWAL (AHA Guidelines 2025)

Audience
The American Heart Association BLS Instructor Course is designed for individuals 18 years or older who want to teach Basic Life Support (BLS) to healthcare providers in both pre-hospital and in-hospital settings. It also prepares instructors to teach Heartsaver® First Aid, CPR, and AED courses to the general public for workplace and regulatory requirements in industries such as construction, childcare, and more.

Course Content / Modules
This course prepares candidates to effectively plan, teach, and manage AHA BLS courses, including:

• Understanding AHA course curriculum, administration, and management

• Overview of the latest AHA science and guidelines updates

• Navigating the AHA Instructor Network

• Heartsaver® and BLS Instructor materials and required equipment

• Organizing and conducting courses

• Skills testing and written exam procedures

• Instructor renewal requirements

• Training Center policies and procedures

• HeartCode® BLS and blended learning formats

• Hands-Only CPR instruction

• Manikin maintenance, cleaning, and decontamination

Course Completion Card
Participants who successfully complete the course will receive an AHA BLS Instructor eCard, valid for 2 years.
