Audience

The American Heart Association Heartsaver® First Aid ONLY course is designed for individuals with little or no medical training who need a First Aid course completion card.

• Babysitters (10 years or older)

• Teachers and childcare providers

Course Overview

This course trains participants in first aid basics for the most common emergencies, including:

• How to recognize an emergency

• How to activate emergency response

• How to provide immediate lifesaving care

The course reflects the most current science and education from the American Heart Association Guidelines Update for First Aid.

Course Content / Modules

The Heartsaver® First Aid course includes instruction in:

• First Aid Basics

  • Scene safety

  • Identifying the problem

  • Calling for help

• Medical Emergencies

  • Choking

  • Breathing problems

  • Shock

• Injury Emergencies

  • Bleeding

  • Broken bones

  • Burns

• Environmental Emergencies

  • Temperature-related emergencies

  • Poison emergencies

• Preventing Illness and Injury

Course Completion Card

Upon successful completion, students will receive an AHA Heartsaver® First Aid ONLY Course Completion Card, valid for 2 years.
